I remember that Tom Jones hosted his own variety show in the late 60's, but I didn't remember him being this cool. It looks to me as though the band backing him and Janis is her Cosmic Blues Band, rather than a house band.

I also found this video, in which he gets down most righteously with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (and Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves):



What really impresses me about these takes is that they're done live, with the artists' traveling bands. None of the lip-syncing to pre-recorded tracks that was the norm for TV shows in those days.
