I got laid off yesterday. [View all]

Surprise, surprise: it wasn’t due to office politics. It was a last hired, first fired situation for a company that has never had first-rate financial stats, and is scrambling after cost-cutting measures.

Plus, I was the oldest provider in my section, with undoubtedly the highest salary. So I accepted their very generous severance package, and called it a day.

I went back to the office this morning to close out my remaining charts, turn in my keys and my ID badge, and say goodbye to my colleagues.

Now I’m at my favorite local pub enjoying a burger and a beer. Looking forward to some time off. Except for when I had my kidney stone, I haven’t had more than a week off at a time in twelve years. I’m going to chill for a while.

I love you all…
