38. The first train station in the United States - Ellicott Mills (now Ellicott City)

The article states that it was built in 1830, and Baltimore has long claimed to have been the first, but the station was actually built in 1829. It is the site of the Tom Thumb race with the horse-drawn carriage.

My father was president of the historical society during the time of the Bicentennial and Hurricane Agnes (1972). They found documents in the attic of the train station that clearly show it was built in 1829. One of the Ellicott brothers' houses was destroyed by the flood and had to be razed - the second story was hanging over air, held up by a single support beam and a small wall of stone on the east side. I spent a lot of time downtown back then.
