They generally like to barf their hairballs on things like mail you leave by the door, books on the floor (the more you want to keep the books, the better a barfing place), new throw rugs (awesome!), or any expensive carpet. They rarely puke up their hairballs in easy to clean places like tiled floors. If they do, it's an accident.

Watch your slippers and shoes too.....prime puke real estate!
