Any city of the size you mention has areas that welcome mixed race couples.
Non-Southern cities are as likely as southern cities to have those who are unfriendly.
Cities with good-sized universities frequently are more accustomed to diversity than those without racial diversity.

Larger cities have more variety in churches, and it should be possible to find a good fit in a Catholic church.
I'd suggest a Franciscan or Jesuit Church.
