3. It all comes down to empathy, imo.

People who have a lot tend to have less empathy and are fearful people in that they are scared of anyone taking what they have. Not to mention greed.

I always tip well even though I can't really afford it. Too many times I've seen a server get screwed over by some asshole, and I try to make up for it. At least a 25% tip, and if the server was excellent I'll tip upwards of 35-40%. Just means I can't eat out as often, but it is worth it. The smiles I get on ocassion are more than enough reward.

We really need to abolish tipping and just pay good wages and benefits.
