8. Rockabilly pretty much is early rock and roll (and later songs that stylistically copy it)

Melding black R&B (rock) and white country (hillbilly) styles together, so stuff like Elvis, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, and others in the thread.

The country influences in Holly's version are what makes it rockabilly instead of R&B.

On the other side, compare Elvis or Carl Perkin's versions of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" to Bill Monroe's original. The vocal melody is more syncopated, and the meter of the song is changed from a lyrical waltz to an insistent 4/4 time with the classic rock backbeat.
