1. In the 1970s, the YAF

was the Young Americans for Freedom, the campus-based more radical and more libertarian offshoot of the Young Republicans. We generally viewed them as the right wing Hippies, which is a pretty confused concept. I think they are the ancestor of this group.

Iíve often heard Libertarians defined as Republicans who like to smoke pot.

On edit: I spent some time reading the site, and Iím pretty sure it is a rebranding if the same group. One girl I knew in college was a hippie when it came to sex, drugs and rock and roll, but was a complete racial bigot and had no sympathy for the poor. She went so far as to support forced sterilization for people who did not meet her intellectual and financial thresholds. I pointed out to her that the Nazis also enjoyed kinky sex and drugs.
