At the very least get a hygrometer. It would be nice if it was digital, and kept a record of extremes. Anytime there’s some major weather system coming through that has the potential to dump the temperature 20-30 degrees or humidity 20-25% in a short time, it wouldn’t hurt to case your instruments for the duration of the event.

The thing that kills fine instruments isn’t so much too much or little humidity as it is rapid changes in humidity. Same goes for temperature.
