I love photography. I have had a number of cameras over the years, learned on my cannon ae-1. It was a great camera for beginners and I still get it out once in a while. Digital is superior of course but every now and again I use film just for the nostalgia and to maintain my development skills. I am just an amateur but I took private lessons while in college for fun. I got into it after my time in France during high school. I came back and had some amazing photographs. I know they were just lucky shots but I wanted to learn more so that I could always ensure a captured moment. There was this one photo of the Rouen Cathedral.
It was 5 in the morning and I was leaving the hotel to travel with my tour group to Saint Malo. I toured Normandy, Bretagne and Paris for about 10 days before my stay with the host family. Anyway, it was very foggy. I was standing alone admiring the quiet stillness and history surrounding me. Above the old row buildings was the cathedral spire hazy in the morning mist/fog. I took a picture because I thought it was beautiful. When I had it developed several months later I noticed that I managed something awesome. It wasnt my intent but the photo captured a ghostly outline of the spire in the background. It looked like construction. Nearer the buildings' brown and tan facade was shadowed with sunlight reflecting off the windows to create a light and dark contrast. To this day it's my absolute favorite picture and no lie, I took it with a disposable cvs 35mm camera. Pure luck.
What kills me is that I only had three cameras with me on that trip and so I only took a handful of pictures. Space was limited so I only had disposables. Still I came out some with great photos
