It's all over the place here (north central WI) along with other types of moss. On a summertime walk in my forest, I come across carpets of moss - so soft!

Unfortunately there's a snowpack of more than 2' out there right now - c'mon Spring!

This seems to have fruited just after a snow. 5X Feb 2020 #2
