I remember growing up hearing an adult admit now and then, "Well, I shouldn't have done that." or "That was stupid of me. I made a stupid mistake." It wasn't considered shameful to admit a mistake.

Now it's rare to hear anyone say that.

This woman's attitude is more likely to be, "They should have had better protections against stupid people like me! So it's THEIR fault! How was I, a stupid idiot, to know that a jaguar would be dangerous if I got too close?"
