It is unfortunate, yes, but your scorn is misplaced. If we'd gotten the rates of illness and death down long ago, and kept them down, we would not be facing this now.

We have run out of hospital beds. So we must give our resources to those who will benefit the most from them. That means we must allow the patients who don't have as good a chance to survive to die in the field.

Our inaction, our selfishness, our disregard -- all have led to this horrifying situation.

We have no-one to blame but ourselves.
