Your GP will have heard any scuttlebutt about bad docs.

The surgeon for my last one was borderline rude before the op. I knew she came highly recommended so I just had it done, happy that I'd only have to see her twice more. After the op, she was all sunshine and smiles---she'd been afraid it wouldn't work on somebody with my crappy corneas and colorful medical history.

Moral of the story: pay attention to recommendations and not bedside manner.
