I live in an area with a number of them. I've heard multiple complaints about how they should be totally exempt from paying school taxes, since they're children don't use the schools. (I've also heard a few discuss how they should be paid by the state since they teach their children "just like a teacher would", but that's another discussion.)

I'm fine with the decision to homeschool. Some are very good at it, able to give more attention to the child, encourage them and expand their horizons further than a regular classroom. That's wonderful and I salute those who do. The majority I've met, otoh, have children who can barely read and are either problem children or the opposite-afraid of their own shadows.

Few can be really good at homeschooling and give the child exactly what they need.
