2. There should never have been a Confederate memorial in ANY state.

We should not be honoring Confederates anywhere. I have no problem with monuments commemorating the Civil War or commemorating soldiers fighting for the US. But we should NOT be honoring traitorous soldiers who went to war against the US to preserve slavery. I don't care how "brave" they were in pursuing evil.

As noted in the article:

Angela Smith was visiting with her husband from Spokane, Washington and said she was a descendent of Union soldiers. Smith said it was time for such monuments across the country to come down."

Do we have statues of Hitler? Do we need things like that to remember our history?" she asked.
