Apr 2018

Dennis Kucinich has called for a complete ban on assault-style weapons in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Cordray called for expanded background checks, but not a guns ban.

Cordray's running mate, former U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton of northeast Ohio, agrees with Kucinich.

On Tuesday, she spoke openly of her stance at a meeting of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Democratic Club. A video of the comments was publicized by Kucinich's campaign.

“I have stood for an assault weapons ban. My running mate believes that the semi-automatic weapons should be available for legal ownership by those who play by the rules and follow the law,” Sutton said. “Rich and I do have a difference of opinion on this, and I think having a difference of opinion on a team is not a bad thing.”
