3. A friend of mine narrowly escaped being burned to death in her bed a few weeks ago.

The apartment next to her caught on fire and it destroyed two units of her small building while she was asleep - thank goodness the fire moved the other direction and no one was injured, though two people lost their homes (and here in Seattle finding a new place to live that's affordable is nearly impossible). So, I find it really serious, and if they had four arson counts, probably a little bit more than a small fire on a cement porch.
