Rep Tom Marino resigns his seat in Congress (PA-12) [View all]

US Rep Tom Marino unexpected resigned his seat today. Guess he didn't like being in the minority, but that's not his excuse.

Since there is already going to be a special election to fill Renschenthaler's seat in the state legislature on April 2nd, I'd expect this special election will be called for the same day.

PA-12 is a GOP-friendly district and encompasses the lightly populated counties along the northern border with NY state and below them through the mountains. But this district also includes State College, home to Penn State, and several other small colleges. In a low turnout special election, Centre County voters could swing the election to a Dem.
