Definitely, Assange has often been a tosser, but this is just a case of the U.S. wanting to punish anybody it can because of its crimes in the M.E. Manning, Assange, and anyone else who dared to call them out. It's spite, nothing more or less, but deadly dangerous.

And no matter where it stands on foreign relations, the Australian government of the day should support its own citizens. Neither major party has said a word or lifted a finger in support of Assange, so the rest of us better hope we're never in need of their help, because we've got Buckley's.
