I think they're more unified, and, generally speaking, more laid back.

They were pretty much embarrassed by the actions of their people, and got a bit riled up by the arrogance of the protesters who said a big "fuck you' to the people they hindered by their blockade and their loud display. It also didn't help that it looked like the whole thing was instigated by US citizens working with Canadians.

So, they came down hard on the side of law and order.
