I did that with my 6 about a year and a half ago after the battery started failing. Take it into the store and ask them, they should do it in about an hour or so. It only cost me about $25-30 IIRC and the phone is still going strong.

Also, you could try using a toothpick or something similar (wood or plastic, avoid metal) to scrape gunk out of the lightning port. That can sometimes help with charging issues, if the cable isn't making a proper connection. You'd be surprise how much lint you can dig out of there.
