(62,269 posts)Not trying to be dismissive at all here, but I'm involved in IRL stuff and the internet stuff is 1000x more beyond the pale. The internet brings the worst out in people.
And I really don't think Sanders can denounce the internet stuff because the IRL supporters will feel like he's denouncing them, either directly, or indirectly because they're incapable of actually doing squat about what internet slacktivists do or say.
I realized this when some Reddit Sanders "supporters" came out and said they'd support Trump over Hillary. Fuck it. It's not possible to reason with these internet nobodies...
But yeah I know it's an issue I just don't see Sanders himself denouncing it will do much if any good at all. I'm not opposed to him trying, mind you, but I don't think it's on his radar. If he was Lessig or something I could see it being on his radar, but he's not that kind of person that I think would be that focused on internet BS. I think he actually might be insulated by his campaign staff in a way, and that's not too bothersome because a lot of politicians are not internet savvy.
So I can't rag on Sanders for not knowing this is happening or not responding to it. It is, unfortunately, what it is.
