18. I have to agree with you about one thing, the South seems to be lost to Fundamentalism.

I lived in beautiful Kentucky in my early twenties. It is sad for me to see it go backwards but not surprising. The roots of bigotry, fear and hatred go deep for many people there.
But I think what happened in Huston is just the "it's going to get bad before it get's better" moment. The demographics are changing daily and rapidly and the Huston area is trying very hard to seem like the "sane and inclusive" area of the state. They failed yesterday but I think they get that their future lies with it's better angels. They will, literally, pay the price for yesterday's vote and that should teach them a lesson and change some minds.
