Gay Rights Are Human Rights.” Hillary Clinton

Clinton’s record on our issues earned her the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign, the largest gay rights organization in the country.

SNIP
Before President Clinton, no US President gave a damn about gay rights or the mounting death toll in the LGBT community from AIDS. This changed dramatically in 1992 upon the election of Bill Clinton.

Clinton set the tone for his presidency by inviting theN.A.M.E.S. Project to include sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in his 1993 inaugural parade. In his two terms in office, Bill Clinton never wavered in wrangling money in his budgets for programs caring for the sick or to preserve vital research funding for effective treatments and to find a cure.

"In 1996, for the very last time, the AIDS Memorial Quilt in all its entirety was laid out across the Washington Mall. It has since grown too large to be displayed all in one place.

My friend Keith Molter shares his story of being at the Quilt in Washington DC in 1996 when by chance he witnessed Bill and Hillary Clinton visit the Quilt seeking out a specific quilt made in honor of a longtime friend of hers. Keith recalls:

It was stone silent on the vast Washington Mall. No fanfare. No hoopla. They simply went and we had stumbled upon it.
Silence. Stillness. They got out of their motorcade hand in hand and walked through the Quilt.

It was THE first time it was ever acknowledged by anyone of any higher level in government.
They stood. They prayed. They looked at a few other panels. They wiped tears.
We were 100 feet away. As they turned to leave, the still silence was broken by a squelching sound, like an animal in deep pain. It was me screaming “Thank you!” through my sobs, my voice cracking. They both turned. He put his hand up in a still wave and nodded his head -his mouth doing that mouth/chin thing he does. They turned and left.

I was there. They were there – maybe too late for some that we lost. But they were there as soon as they could – once the country elected two people who actually cared."

BEAUTIFUL REMEMBRANCE

I recall what effort it took by so many to simple get the attention

..that an entire segment of society was dying daily and No One with the power to assist, did so.
Pres Reagan avoided any association to the entire AIDS/HIV issue.

It wasn't until President Bill & First Lady Hillary Clinton, & yes, VP Al & Tipper Gore took on the task of moving the closed mindset in America towards a more humanitarian direction.
The Clinton Foundation has committed much work on a global scale in the fight against a disease that claimed the lives of many, many kind & dear people.
Men, Women & Children.

.. life comes full circle then, as we elect to lead our nation, that compassionate First Lady, who stood to mourn on that powerful day in history.

I want the kinder world Hillary speaks of.
Who doesn't want that, finally.

REPOST because people forget that Bill & Hillary Clinton did not just stop with that appearance that day.

This is why she recently recieved the solid & humbling endorsement from South Florida Gay News

"So we choose first to stand by the friend who has stood by us.

Our world is uneasy with terror and crisis in the Mideast and elsewhere. It has been so for decades and the instability and chaos there has never been directly attributable to either Republicans or Democrats.

Madmen exist in our world, from North Korea to the last prime minister of Iran.
In America, this year we are offering our own lunacy in the Republican primary, led by Donald Trump, who is neither conservative or liberal, just nastily narcissistic, fostering a nationalism based on hate and hostility, segregation and separation. His bipolar campaign and persona borders on Neo-Fascism, and our equations to the early days of Adolf Hitler have a ring of truth to them, like it or not.

We also believe that Clinton is the best candidate positioned to take on the Republican nominee in the general election. She is only one that has faced the full assault of the Republican attack machine again and again over the past 30 years. She’s been knocked down, but never knocked out. She proved to this country her resiliency when she testified for 11 hours in front of the Benghazi committee. She walked away unfazed and unbroken.

We support Hillary Clinton because she has spent a lifetime supporting human rights issues, from children’s rights as a legal advocate, to women’s rights as First Lady, and LGBT rights as a secretary of state.

We stand by the promise of an enlightened future rather than a return to a regressive past. We stand by a candidate appealing to the best in all of us, rather than the klandidate hiding behind false veils."

We stand by Hillary Clinton. We are with her.

Thank You
