I'm diabetic (3 yrs now) with high bp. For years, I have watched my sodium intake, so the possible sugar connection makes sense to me. I was doing really well with my carb control, but have fallen "off the wagon" -- rather far "off the wagon" -- over the past 9-10 months. Of the 40 lbs I had lost, I have still kept 33 of it off, but I need to get the scale and my glucose numbers moving in the other direction again.
I was thinking of making my own "Eat this, not that" list with low carb/low sugar alternative choices.

I use lots of artifical sweetener, mostly sucralose (Splenda). It has no harmful effect whatsoever.
