3. I looked over the offerings and was not impressed enough to even try the free period

I already have Hulu Plus (the Criterion Collection of foreign and classic films, literally hundreds of offerings) plus foreign TV programming), Netflix (a bit of everything), Amazon Prime (gets all the HBO programming eventually), and Acorn TV (programming from English-speaking countries outside the U.S., with a selection that gets better and better every month).

With all that, who needs Showtime?
