6. Absolute bullshit. AA does not "condone" drinking for any reason. However....

the only requirement for membership is the desire to stop drinking. Been in many, many meetings with guys wet as a dishrag with booze and that's OK so long as they behave and have that desire.

A couple of the very worst ones I sponsored were shaking so bad in my car I had to stop a buy them a half-pint to get them home or to a treatment center. But, those were very rare and unusual and done out of desperation and compassion. Most times, something sweet will stop minor shakes.

It is also AA tradition to defer to the medical profession's decisions regarding health issues. AA is no one's doctor. It's your son's choice what he takes for pain relief and AA has nothing to do with that.

In my 30 years, we've seen many, many false rumors about AA and we just disregard and trudge on.....
