Benadryl is an antihistamine that has been around forever, and it’s famous for making people drowsy, sometimes markedly so. The generic name is diphenhydramine. It’s available in capsules which would not have any alcohol. Your pharmacist could help you figure out the equivalent dose to Zzzquil. Might cost less

Little kids can get hyper rather than drowsy on Benadryl. At the pediatric office, I’d often have moms ask about giving their toddlers Benadryl before traveling. I’s always tell then to try it at home first to see how they reacted. The last thing you want in a car or plane is a toddler you have to pull off the ceiling -
