It's been my experience that bosses and parents don't purposely make their people/children miserable. They do the best they can with the knowledge and resources that they have available.

It sounds like he was doing his job. Good for you for standing up for yourself. Good for him being understanding. Hope your week off with your family helps you regain some equilibrium.
