3. I make my own cuz store bought is tooooooo sweet.

2 cups oats, I like whole oats but my husband likes quick oats.
1/2 cup almond slivers
1/2 cup cashew pieces
1/2 cup sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix all of this in a big bowl. In a small bowl mix:

1/4 cup oil - I use safflower
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla

Pour this over the oat/nut mix & stir until all the dry ingreds are slightly moist. Spread the mixture evenly on a cookie sheet and bake at 325 for about 30 minutes, pulling out to stir every 10 minutes.

This is an easy recipe to modify for what you have on hand. Use what nuts/seeds you like. I've used agave instead of maple syrup & it works fine. If you want cinnamon add it to the oat mixture. If you want granola that lumps together so you get small rock sized chunks of granola, this recipe doesn't do that. I looked online & it seems that most recipes use egg to get that effect, so I'm happy with loose granola.

Someday I'm going to make a pistachio/dark chocolate granola. Maybe for Christmas. Yum!

Have fun!
