I discovered it when I was a vegetarian, using it diluted in water, mixed with corn starch, as a sauce in stir fries. It gives a hearty, meaty flavor. I always keep it or Vegemite around for that reason.

It can also enrich pan gravies for roast beef, but use it sparingly.
