It’s self contained, so you don’t need extra light. It’s expensive, but I already had it because I use it to start plants in the spring. Three weeks after planting romaine, I have a usable quantity of lettuce with more coming along every day. I’m going to have to give lettuce up in April, though, because I want to start nicotiana Sylvestrus in my Aerogarden.
