Looks like you are off to a good start. I'm about three years into learning to be a gardener and DU has been a great resource in that endeavor. I'm sure you'll find to be so too.

It's incredibly satisfying to eat something you grew yourself. And it's great that you are getting the boys involved. Kiddie gardener tip: radishes grow fast and give almost instant gratification while you wait for the rest to get going-- plus they help repel squash bugs! If you don't like to eat them, let them flower. They get quite tall and have pretty blooms.
