that falsify variety histories to create a buzz that lead to sales. I've seen a tomato I named, Cherokee Purple (an old Tennessee variety I named in 1990), described as "an old, rare eastern European variety finally available for the first time due the fall of the Iron Curtain"!

Of course, when you point these things out, you are either met with anger...or just ignored.
