(1,273 posts)31. That's funny, I always thought that the cycle of fear drove efforts to ban guns.
Incidents like Newtown, while tragic, are statistically insignificant when it comes to child safety. Yet because of the media saturation of the event, every parent in the US is now deathly afraid of their child being next. Their fear drives the effort to disarm the population.

Yet, there are ebbs in gun purchases, prob. when there us little talk of bans.
