And it happened 47 years ago.

Whitman had three rifles, three handguns, and a shotgun with him. The weapon he used for most of the killings was a 6mm Remington bolt-action rifle with a scope -- the type of rifle one would use to hunt deer.

Muhammad and Malvo in DC used a Bushmaster AR, an odd choice because it's a less powerful round and because they didn't fire more than one shot at any of their sniping victims.
