15. Illustrative example of the exercise in futility that is ex post facto registration

Jan 2014

While I'm not particularly anti-registration in theory, I pragmatically dismiss it without prejudice because it's currently an utterly unattainable goal for the pro-control side that makes a great whisk to froth up the pro-guns side, especially with the vocal minority of control advocates who do in fact openly admit that registration is a path to confiscation. Whether or not that is the actual endgame is irrelevant, but it's a surefire way to mobilize the NRA crowd like almost nothing else.

So, let's put that in the box labeled "Do Not Open Until XMas" and move along with more immediate and possibly effective measures like mandatory FFL transfers, universal FOID cards (with a CCW carrot), magazine limits, &c. All of which I wholeheartedly support...funny that, I'm really only opposed to registration and an AWB, both on practical grounds that, but that makes me the unvarnished 100% no-compromise ENEMY. And y'all wonder why a lot of the moderates in this debate just sit on our hands..

Lets wish the Governor luck, it's a good start but doesn't go anywhere near far enough. bowens43 Jan 2014 #1
