I was turned down in 1999. Before I could appeal, I received a letter from the VA stating that the VA had taken an adversarial stance when it was supposed to help the veteran and I received a 100% service-connected disability 6 months later, of course, retroactive to my first claim. I guess things have changed. It was my psychiatrist who told me to apply on my first visit. I had seen a psychiatrist once when in the army.
