I do try to listen, and keep trying. And in turn, others are obligated to try to understand me. That's the deal. That's what makes it a conversation. It's plain, though, after a few postings, and replies, that some people you try to interact with have no interest in conversation -- only in broadcasting their internal monologue. If you reply, the response is a shout down -- a 'how dare you try to talk' smack -- as though you tried to grab their megaphone.
Maybe Bravenak was smacked-down, or denied the right to talk in the past. Maybe he/she has legitimate grievances for past generations of his/her family. Or maybe she's the reincarnation of a Confederate General attached to a karmic bungee cord -- I just don't know. I do know that I came here to talk, to listen, and be listened-to. Sorry, but telling me that, when it comes to race, I only get to do one (listen) is a deal breaker.
