One of my colleagues was working on a project a few years ago about black hairstyles, only she was interested in hair (and tats) in the post-Jordan NBA. Some good stuff

If anyone's interested, Kobena Mercer wrote a great article about black hair maybe 20 years ago called Black Hair/Style Politics that looks at black hair and ideology
