I lost Mom in 2002 & Dad in 2004. Besides missing them profoundly, the sense of one's own mortality becomes more real than ever. My sisters and I were lucky to have both into their 80s and with sound minds. It was their bodies that succumbed to multiple myeloma and heart disease respectively.
They and your mom represent the "Greatest Generation" indeed - what journeys they all made, what wonders they experienced, and what ideals they left for us to live up to!
