Do animals have guides?

7. I have no idea if animals have guides,

but about a year and a half ago my then 16 year old cat slipped out of my back yard and I was sick when I realized what had happened. I live in Santa Fe, and my small home backs up onto an arroyo, which means there's the potential for coyotes to be roaming in search of a cat as food.

A day and a half later -- in the wee hours of the morning to be precise -- I heard her meowing at the back door. I don't suppose she'd wandered very far, but she was totally uninterested in going outside at all for the next several months.

She's still with me, turning 18 some time this spring, and aside from the usual signs of getting older, such as sleeping twenty hours a day, she's doing fine.
