And it was not quite as hot as it had been. My friend asked me to help him check out an antique car he was interested in and to drive his vehicle back home if he bought it so he could drive it home. It's a two hour jaunt from home, all interstate. I have a knack for spotting problems that could be deal breakers. I flat out told him he couldn't buy the car, he couldn't have driven it back, not roadworthy, so I told him he couldn't buy it. He listened and was glad I did that by the time we got back on the freeway. He would have bought it if I wasn't there.

Last Feb I went to central MN to go fetch a restored vehicle he had already purchased. We rented a trailer to haul it back, made the round trip in 54 hours and that was with two hotel stays. Ask an old road warrior like me to go on a mission, I don't mess around, I get there and back quick as I can.

And that's how I ended up seeing the new moon as a very faint crescent.
