(6,679 posts)The private insurance portion of ACA got the most fanfare but it's only one part (major part) of ACA.
ACA provided more funding to states for medicaid and children's healthcare services. it also provided more funding to schools to improve the nutritional value of lunches, add more breakfasts and even dinners to ask risk kids, along with nutrition counseling to the community as a whole. It also required the food industry to be more transparent on nutrition content so consumer can make better choices. It also increased grants to hospitals and providers for care that is never reimbursed.
Since medicare is state based now the provisions of the affordable care act that actually benefit America could remain intact while moving the private insurance component over to Medicare.
You would not have to trash the whole thing.
