49. Why are you "supposed to get upset?"

Here's what happened.

The Sanders crew used an image that they weren't authorized to use, which created an association--an 'implied affiliation'--that did not exist.

Actually, they did this more than once--with AARP and LCV.

The agencies with rights to the logos called them out and told them to stop using the logos, and they did.

If you want to see the logo and how it was used, ya know who has it? The SANDERS campaign. They created it, they sent it out, and they got caught/called out because of it.

I couldn't find any picture. Which makes me think it is a Rovian rat fuck. PatrickforO Jan 2016 #1
Oh Dear God Armstead Jan 2016 #5
"Rovian ratfuck" might just be one of the greatest terms I've seen on this forum. VulgarPoet Jan 2016 #6
Could be that or a Brockian ratfuck. He's a pretty experienced right wing rat fucker. morningfog Jan 2016 #8
Yeah, AARP is "part of the plan." Please. MADem Jan 2016 #12
Where did they use the logo? Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #16
They used it on a MAILER. It's not an "ad." MADem Jan 2016 #34
When did campaign mailers stop being a form of advertising? Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #38
It's highly targeted--it's not a magazine, newspaper or TV/radio ad. nt MADem Jan 2016 #39
You do realize that there are more types of ads than the ones you listed don't you? Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #40
You better inform the US Postal Service that mailers are not a form of advertising Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #44
Now you're just being churlish. It's TARGETED advertising. MADem Jan 2016 #46
You felt the need to correct me and say it was not an ad Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #48
It's not an "ad" in the sense of those that are issued to the general public MADem Jan 2016 #50
You are splitting hairs Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #52
No, I am not--but glad you're so easily amused. MADem Jan 2016 #54
AARP does NOT back single payer because they make money by selling insurance policies Skwmom Jan 2016 #37
Wow. Right under my nose and I didn't see it. Wilms Jan 2016 #42
I've thought AARP were assholes for years, and I've said as much here. MADem Jan 2016 #43
Brockian jfern Jan 2016 #24
Here you go 99th_Monkey Jan 2016 #2
But I still don't see the AARP logo Kalidurga Jan 2016 #4
Presumably on a different but equally bogus mailer? n/t winter is coming Jan 2016 #29
They aren't very good at this. Kalidurga Jan 2016 #61
I've been looking. Kalidurga Jan 2016 #3
That is my first question. Where is a picture of the mailer? morningfog Jan 2016 #7
No and if you go to that link that they are posting it is BOGUS! jillan Jan 2016 #9
I haven't find one anywhere. Newsweek claims that they have an image Luminous Animal Jan 2016 #10
Hmm. It's almost as if a SuperPAC has been shopping negative info winter is coming Jan 2016 #19
One with a particularly Orwellian name jfern Jan 2016 #26
I haven't seen "a lot of outrage." I've seen a story that says AARP asked Sanders' MADem Jan 2016 #11
A pattern is starting to emerge here. nt Bobbie Jo Jan 2016 #13
I have to agree with you on that score!!! nt MADem Jan 2016 #14
You do realize that the dispute with the Culinary Union has been resolved? Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #15
Resolved? They were caught and called out. MADem Jan 2016 #23
Please post an image of the mailer Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #31
Why are you "supposed to get upset?" MADem Jan 2016 #49
How do you know the ad implied an affiliation? Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #51
Really? I guess AARP told him to stop using it for savage amusement, then? MADem Jan 2016 #56
If they are guilty show us the proof Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #58
Here's the proof--Weaver hasn't held a combative press conference or MADem Jan 2016 #64
I guess you haven't been reading DU for the last few hours then. n/t ljm2002 Jan 2016 #17
I'm reading a lot of aggrieved crying about a mailer. MADem Jan 2016 #30
Obviously, AARP made the whole thing up. They're part of the big conspiracy. DanTex Jan 2016 #18
So can you provide us with the image? Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #20
I have an AARP press release. Obviously, they could be lying just to smear Bernie. DanTex Jan 2016 #25
But that link is bogus. Try to add a comment & see what happens. jillan Jan 2016 #27
Seems to be working for me... DanTex Jan 2016 #28
Or maybe they never saw a mailer but were told about it by someone. Who knows? morningfog Jan 2016 #33
It's not an "ad." It's a mailer--addressed to likely voters. MADem Jan 2016 #32
Campaign mailers are a type of advertising Bjorn Against Jan 2016 #35
Well, maybe one of the IA Sanders supporters will do that. nt MADem Jan 2016 #36
Or a recipient, a complainant or, maybe AARP? morningfog Jan 2016 #41
Why would AARP re-promulgate an image they demanded he stop using? MADem Jan 2016 #45
The AARP site is heavily populated with images of most of the presidential candidates. morningfog Jan 2016 #47
Do you seriously think they told him to "stop" based on hearsay? MADem Jan 2016 #53
I saw that one. I'm just waiting for the same to appear for AARP. morningfog Jan 2016 #55
It's going to have to come from a recipient of the mailer, I think. MADem Jan 2016 #57
Newsweek claims to have, or to have seen, a copy. morningfog Jan 2016 #59
AARP has told Sanders to stop using it. Only a recipient is likely to put it out. nt MADem Jan 2016 #63
I don't know what happened. Did AARP actually see a Sanders mailers with its logo? morningfog Jan 2016 #22
I don't get snail mail from the campaign Le Taz Hot Jan 2016 #21
So no factual evidence as of yet. We're going based upon a statement by AARP. Who tipped them? frylock Jan 2016 #60
using the search field, I am finding the statement of the Sanders issue on both of your links passiveporcupine Jan 2016 #62
