In reply to the discussion: Did Bernie Sanders win Iowa? [View all]Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)In terms of final delegate count, yes, Hillary came out with 2 more than Sanders. But the importance of Iowa- reasonably intelligent people know this- is not the final delegate count so much as it is momentum and temperature-taking of the electorate. The final percentages were 49.9% to 49.6%. Yes, had this been a presidential election the person with a few more votes would get the office. But again, we all know that the real prize from Iowa is, again, perception of momentum and an indication of how the voters feel about the candidates.
In all those regards, Hillary performed well below expectations, and Sanders; who came into this from way behind and was practically unknown, demonstrated that he is not going away, not this week.
Anyone who watches the two speeches last night can see who has the momentum. It's obvious.
But go ahead, continue with the condescension, the deliberate obtuseness, the meaningless memes, the distractions, the denial, the entitlement, the perpetual belief that the "Dreary", "inauthentic", "phony", "uninspiring" campaign - words from an Op-Ed you guys called "spot on" - is actually connecting with the voters, all of it.... Team Clinton may think it's working, but it isn't.
