2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: Tonight is the night I leave the Democratic Party and Democratic Underground [View all]Kenjie
(122 posts)I have been a Democrat since I was eligible to vote and I have shown up and supported candidates which were much more conservative than me because they were of my party.
I really don't like how corporate the party has become. I don't like how DWS and other party establishment figures have done everything they possibly can to engineer the result they want. I despise how Bernie's opponent has flat out lied and said things like she didn't know where he was in the 90s on Health care. Then she expects our votes should she be the nominee. Worse it seems that many in the party are just fine with this. Yes there are even many of her supporters here that have turned me off with the way they support their candidate. I'm tired of holding my nose and watching people in this party cheering and making excuses for this constant drift to the right.
So I hear you and I have been thinking for a few months about switching my affiliation to Independent. I plan to wait until we see where the soul of the party will be but I've already researched how to do it and it turns out to be quite easy. The only way I would return is if we had another Sanders type candidate that I would support in a primary.
