Sanders: Single Payer Never Had A Chance
ByEVAN MCMORRIS-SANTOROPublishedMARCH 10, 2010, 7:26 PM EST 368 Views
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) reminded the progressive media gathered on Capitol Hill today that single-payer health care reform was dead before it started in the Senate.
"It would have had 8 or 10 votes and that's it," he said, addressing a topic central in the minds of many who the bloggers and left wing talk show hosts gathered for the 4th annual Senate Democratic Progressive Media Summit in Washington reach everyday.

Those voters didn't cheer any of what you claim. They support a candidate who didn't make promises she knows she can't keep. Sanders knows single payer can't pass. He knew it was a non-starter in a Democratic majority. His talk about revolution was never more than a campaign slogan. There are no signs of his "revolution." Democratic turnout is down, and his support substantially less than Clinton's. If he can't get voters to turn out and support him, he certainly isn't going to get a "revolutionary" turnout in red states that would transform the House from Tea Party to progressive control. In fact, in the debate he didn't even pretend winning the House was a possibility. He talked about the Senate, which isn't nearly enough.
It takes a lot more than a wish list to bring about change. It takes a willingness to knuckle down and get to work. I saw no evidence of Sanders having a track record of doing that. Quite the opposite. He never got any of his reform proposals enacted in 25 years in DC. Not one. His one legislative success was veterans funding, which is great but it had nothing to do with his presidential platform.
I didn't support Sanders because of the massive disparity between his rhetoric and actions. http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1251&pid=1492915
Those are the sorts of things that prompted me to judge him incredible.
You want those issues to die, maintain the interpretation you just presented. You want progress, focus on those issues rather than one man's career.

That saying is terrible. But think we can't find something bad from a Hill fan? Also, if you want...

Looks to me as though we still have a primary, and also that Sanders voters don't forget easily.
