(651 posts)I have a background in economics, I know the data. Prove to me there has been economic progress since Reagan, hell, since Nixon, for most of the country. Prove our infrastructure has progressed. Prove that public schools have progressed. Prove that the environment is in better shape. Go ahead, the floor is yours. Things haven't gotten incrementally better just because Hillary Clinton and the corporations and banks backing her say they have.
"And I am geeing this is why people are so pissed Obama prevented a global depression with the bailout"
What individuals, groups, and institutions were bailed out? Local governments, especially ones dealing with de-industrialization? Massively indebted home owners, students? You know, private debt has exploded in recent decades and is much larger than public debt, grew at a much quicker rate than public debt leading into the crash. We have given over a year's worth of GDP to financial capital since the crash, the too big to fail banks are now bigger and pose and even greater systematic risk. The value of the debt instruments the rich and the banks own were maintained with tax payer money, as was the power of financial capital. Provide the evidence that anywhere close to that has gone towards the groups I mentioned. You can't.
Notice too that I am asking you over and over again for facts and proof. There is a reason for that.
"Start doing your part, and reap the benefits in 8-16 years."
I keep on hearing stuff about unicorns and rainbows. Classical case of projection. THIS is unicorns and rainbows. I am an activist, former union rep, been involved my entire adult life. That doesn't mean I view the Democratic Party as a vehicle of change. Now, if you or others can make the case and have facts to back it up, great. There is no evidence though that things have gotten better and that your party is that. Again, if you can argue otherwise, I am all ears.
